The Meaning of Migos

While they were in high school the three began rapping in their free time. But this was not the only thing they did. They also became entangled in drug trafficking to make a buck, which they reveal in their song titled Bando.

Consequently, it is speculated that the name “Migos” was adopted in honor of a drug house (trap house). Many others understand the name to mean “friends”.

Quavo and Offset are cousins, while Takeoff is Quavo’s nephew. All are natives of Georgia and grew up together in Lawrence.

Quavo’s dad died when he was 4 years old. Takeoff and Offset were also without parents since they were young, so Quavo’s mother took care of the three boys.  In February 2017, Quavo revealed to Rolling Stone magazine that his mother knew how to raise them, even without a father figure.

Migos launched their first mixtape in August 2011. They have been releasing music albums since.

Migos Legal Issues

The Migos music group has suffered a string of legal issues since their illegal drug trafficking activities in high school.

In 2013 when the group’s popularity started to grow, Offset was arrested for probation violation. He had been convicted of stealing.

In April 2015 Offset was jailed again, but this time with Quavo and rapper Rich the Kid. The reason for the arrest was possession of marijuana, and firearms.
